Progress Over Perfection
Happy Monday!
I know I know, you’re sick of hearing this phrase but hear me out. I really believe that when put into practice this can make a big difference in the day to day.
This year I decided I wanted to be a morning workout person. I always like how I feel after morning workouts and it would actually make my evenings a lot more open for personal training and unwinding from the day. Now I would not describe myself as a morning person. Getting out of bed has always been challenging for me, and I knew this would be a difficult goal.
So it’s Monday today. I got 8 hours of sleep and the alarm goes off. I snoozed quite a few times, too many times. In the past I would have said I snoozed too many times and now didn’t have time to get my workout in and I would just do it later. But instead I got up, changed into the workout outfit I had laid out the night before, drank some water, poured my coffee, and headed out to the gym to get the workout in.
The point in me telling you all this is that even if you get started later than you planned, or you fall off track you just do what you can in the moment. Workout for 30 minute instead of a 60 minutes. Eat your next normally planned meal if you fell off your diet. Set an alarm to remind you to stop scrolling on your phone before bed so you can get a goodnight sleep tonight.
Whatever your goal is, the path to get there is not going to be a straight line and that’s ok. All that matters is that you don’t let the fear of things not going perfectly stop you from starting.
BE STRONG!
